works for Oracle in Germany since 2001, where he started in the Presales organization helping customers and partners regarding database-centric application development. Since March 2016, Carsten
is a member of the Application Express development team. Focus of his work is on the new support for REST services in APEX – beyond that and others Carsten
looks after the Calendar component and the Data Loading facility. Carsten
is a frequent speaker at international user group conferences.
is the CEO & co-founder of FOEX GmbH, an Austrian IT company focused on developing plugins and add-ons for Oracle Application Express (APEX).
As an Oracle ACE Director with more than 20 year of experience in working with various Oracle technologies, Peter shares his knowledge through articles, trainings, and webinars. He is an active member of the Oracle APEX community and a frequent speaker at various conferences, such as Kscope, DOAG, UKOUG, APEX Connect, APEX World, SIOUG, and HrOUG. He writes about Oracle APEX on Twitter and on his blog at www.oracle-and-apex.com.
Peter’s technical knowledge and expertise extend to areas including: Oracle APEX, PL/SQL, jQuery, ExtJS, AJAX, Oracle Forms, legacy systems migration, and mobile applications.
is an APEX enthusiast, who joined Oracle more than 2 years ago the Solution Engineering Hub in Bucharest. Her main focus is developing internal and external APEX applications for customers around EMEA and JAPAC regions. Since Oracle Cloud is a hot topic among us, demos and Proof of concepts around APEX are build on top of Cloud Services like Database Cloud Service and Autonomous Database mostly. Andreea covers also the DIS (Data Integration Solutions) stack and integrates different PaaS, SaaS solutions using REST services.
Before joining Oracle, she was a PL/SQL developer and was involved in building Non-Financial Dashboards for a foreign investment bank in Europe. In the last year, Andreea started to write blog postings around APEX new features.
P1_TITLE: Fulltime APEX Enthusiast
P1_FACTS: I study Software Engineering at the Technical University of Vienna. I work at FOEX where I contribute to an awesome plugin framework for APEX. I speak at APEX conferences and local meetups. P1_FLAWS: I love using undocumented APIs.
APEX 19.2 and beyond: Autonomous Database, News and insights from the APEX development team
This session contains first practical experiences with the new features introduced in APEX 19.1 and APEX 19.2. Besides the marquee features like Faceted Search or the new Popup LOV the session will also cover minor, but useful new features which are not covered in the usual marketing slides. Of course, news on APEX and Oracle’s autonomous Cloud Service will also be included. Finally, the session will provide some insight on the current work topics of the APEX development team and an outlook on what to expect from APEX releases in 2020.
45 APEX Tips
A fast-paced session with lots of useful APEX tips and tricks. You might already be aware of some, but I can guarantee that there will be new things for everyone. This won’t only be a slide fest; there will be many demos and enough time for questions.
When it comes to the APEX PL/SQL API-s, things are pretty straight forward. The package and function names are self-explanatory, and their usage is neatly documented.
Database Links vs. REST Enabled SQL in APEX
How to access data remotely? Database links and REST Enabled SQL are definitely the features that you need as a developer. However, there are some differences between them starting with their ability to be queried, authentication methods and how can be accessed within the Cloud environment. What about the performance? It comes in mind each time we access data over the network.. A big plus for REST Enabled SQL is JSON processing and therefore, it is really flexible when working on Cloud instances. However, we should be careful when selecting one of the 2 aproaches for our environments, since they can have an impact on our application pages performance. There will be a step by step presentation showing simple use cases that require the usage of Database links and REST Enabled SQL, how to create them, manipulate data and integrate in different APEX components so we can get more value out of them. Tips, tricks and also some information on the limitations of this approach will wrap the session up.
Hands-on introduction to plug-ins
If you wish to go beyond the built-in capabilities of APEX, but still want to work in a modular and maintainable manner, plug-ins are the way to go.
In this workshop, we will first present the basic concepts of a plug-in’s inner workings, the necessary boilerplate code needed to get you up and running when creating a new plug-in, security best-practices, and general tips and tricks.
We will also take a look at other aspects of plug-in development, such as making use of 3rd party tools, dealing with source control, finding the best resources, and how to benefit from, and contribute to the vibrant open-source plug-in community.
We will then start building our own plug-ins. Bring along a laptop, pick an exercise plug-in from the provided list, and either try to build it yourself our follow the step by step guide. Peter and Stefan will be there to help along the way.
The event will take place with the logistic support from Raiffeisen Bank Romania, Cladirea Office by Tower, Etaj 2, Auditorium
