RoOUG TechSession #28 – About Oracle 18c for developers and Analytic function in the cloud era

On 27th September 2018,Romanian Oracle User Group prepared a new event dedicated to users of Oracle products.

Abstract: Analytic Functions have been around for quite a long time, and still they are a relatively unknown. If you are unfamiliar with these very powerful functions, you are missing out on something spectacular. Analytic Functions add inter-row calculations, aggregates over multiple dimensions, or rank assignment based on values within a group of values – all without a GROUP BY clause.
The syntax might seem daunting at first, but it is really not that scary. This session will focus on the syntax with tons of real world uses for Analytic Functions.

Abstract: Do you want to get up to speed with the most current release of the Oracle database? Then this session is for you. You will learn the most exciting and most useful new features from the Oracle Database 18c which can make your work as database developer a lot easier. In this fast paced session the most convenient utilities will be shown illustrated by loads of code samples. As much features interesting for database developers will be crammed into 45 minutes session.
There is more to the Oracle database 18c than just a new release naming schema.

Speaker bio

Alex Nuijten is an independent consultant (allAPEX), specializing in Oracle database development with PL/SQL and Oracle Application Express (APEX) and member of the Smart4APEX Guild.Besides his consultancy work, he conducts training classes, mainly in APEX, SQL and PL/SQL. Alex has been a speaker at numerous international conferences, such as ODTUG, Oracle Open World, UKOUG, IOUG, OUGF, BGOUG, OGH APEX World and OBUG. For his presentations, Alex received several Best Speaker awards.He wrote many articles in Oracle related magazines, and at regular intervals he writes about Oracle Application Express and Oracle database development on his blog “Notes on Oracle” (nuijten.blogspot.com). Alex is co-author of the following books “Oracle APEX Best Practices” (published by Packt Publishers) and “Real World SQL and PL/SQL” (published by Oracle Press).Because of his contributions to the Oracle community, Alex was awarded the Oracle ACE Director membership in August 2010.

The workshop is organized with logistic help of Oracle Romania and will take place at Oracle’s location, Floreasca Park, Ground Floor hall GF13.
