UK Oracle User Group appoints Masternaut CIO as new president
The UK Oracle User Group (UKOUG) has finally appointed a new president following the shock resignation of Debra Lilley in August of last year.
David Warburton-Broadhurst is only the UKOUG’s second president and is also the CIO of Masternaut, one of Europe’s largest providers of telematics solutions.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Warburton-Broadhurst has also previously held senior positions at Star Technology Services and Cambridge Technology Partners.
Fiona Martin, UKOUG vice president, welcomed the announcement and said that Warburton-Broadhurst was an ‘excellent fit’ for the User Group and a ‘true leader’ that understand the value of the Oracle community.
She said: “I have no doubt that David, with his excellent leadership qualities, experience and energy will be an outstanding president.”
According to his manifesto on the UKOUG website, Warburton—Broadhurst claims that his vision for the User Group is to make it a place where there is strategic vision to deliver ‘tangible evidence of success and benchmarking by industry and application’. The manifesto states: “How do our processes and savings measure against like-minded businesses?
“UKOUG should map, articulate and develop the mechanics for assessment tool kits which assist users building cases and share evidence-based best practice that drive the product, service and new methods service delivery.”
Commenting on his appointment today, Warburton-Broadhurst said that he is going to use his connections to make the UKOUG a point of reference for other global user groups.
“I am active and motivated with the Oracle community and will engage with my network and associated relationships to create strong strategic relations that will enable UKOUG to gain enormous traction and be recognised as a point of reference for the Oracle world,” he said.
“The UKOUG community can ultimately deliver innovation and best-practice that everyone in the Oracle community can benefit from and I will continue to evangelise in this way to extend the reach of the user group.”
He added: “I will be approachable and interested in what anyone has to tell me about their experience at UKOUG. I promise to everything I can to ensure a strong Oracle user community for today’s participants and future members.”
